Dear Candidate,
It’s my great pleasure to welcome you today to the site of the International Competition for Outstanding Piano Amateurs. You have been working fo months and years to play for just a few minutes in Paris. You are going to give your very best, but more than anything else, we ask you to be yourself.

Here, the desire to "win" is outweighed by the love of music. You are going to discover that the Competition for Outstanding amateurs is not a competition but an "anti-competition". There are no opponents, no competitors, no judges, just music lovers.
